Using red in your make up and beauty looks can convey very powerful, exciting, dangerous and sometimes slightly scary emotions. I always feel excited at my core when I come across beauty editorials or images that play around with red in creative and innovative ways.
Red Make-up Looks:
Let’s take a look at the symbolism and meaning of the various shades of red.
PURE RED: Red is the color of energy, power, action and passion. Red stimulates us into action and excites the emotions. The color of sexuality from love, lust, sex to anger and revenge.
MAROON : Ability to own ones own self power. Maroon red is on the darker end of the red spectrum and has a purple tinge to it. A mysterious shade of red that holds the warmth, action and focus of red infused with the mysteries and riches of purple. A luxurious red.
SCARLET RED : Can indicate a person with a big ego, but also enthusiasm and a lust for life. Scarlet contains hints of orange and is the shade of red most representative of power, often seen used for formal occasions in military, academics and theological literature and marketing.
CRIMSON : Innate creative talents, emits sensuality rather than sexuality. The color of fresh blood, a bright pinkish red with a little bit of blue in it. Strong symbolism for danger and power, yet also representative of celebration.
RUSTIC RED: Quick tempered. Lighter than maroon yet also contains a hint of purple, a red on the darker end of the scale. A rusty red.
CARMINE: Indicates a person who is seeking change. Similar to a rustic red. A deep red, slightly purplish.
VERMILION: Highlights creativity. An orange based red.
CLARET : Tenacious. A dark wine like red.
